Everything in nRange is designed to be read in a glance, in bright sun, with a glove on. Here's what's in the app.

On the course

GPS distances on every hole.

In yards or meters. Switch any time in Settings › Distance Unit.

  • Courses near you

    Open the app and nRange lists the courses closest to you. Star the ones you play most, or search every course by name.

  • Front, middle and back

    Three yardages to the green, measured from your position and updated as you walk. The green's shape is drawn from the angle you're approaching it.

  • Tap to measure

    Tap anywhere on the map, whether a bunker lip, the far side of a pond or your ideal layup, for the distance to it and from it to the pin.

  • Shot tracking

    Tap Start after you hit and Stop when you reach your ball to see exactly how far it went. It's a quick way to learn your real carry with each club.

  • Satellite maps

    Every hole has a built-in course map. Premium adds high-resolution satellite, hybrid, terrain and road views, 3D terrain to read elevation, a compass, and a target that can stay fixed on screen as you pan.

  • Full-hole landscape view

    Turn your phone sideways and the whole hole fits on screen, from tee to green.

Scorecard

Keep score for the whole group.

Enter scores from the bottom of the map screen, for you and up to five playing partners. Your friends don't need the app or an account. Add them by name and their scores go on your card.

  • Track more than strokes: fairways hit, greens in regulation, putts, sand shots, penalties and driving distance. Turn each one on or off in Settings › Stats Tracking.
  • Saves as you go. If your phone dies or the app closes mid-round, pick up where you left off.
  • One menu for the round: jump to any hole, check your GPS accuracy, change the map, or end the round.
  • Round history keeps every finished round with course rating and slope, ready for your stats.

Your group on one live leaderboard.

Host a lobby for your course and share the code. Everyone scores their own card, and positions update live as each player posts a hole.

  • Join your way: type the lobby code, scan the host's QR code, or browse public lobbies.
  • Ranked by score to par, so players on different holes compare fairly.
  • Lobby chat for the trash talk.
  • Notifications when players join, post scores or send messages.
  • Host controls: make the lobby public or private, lock it once everyone's in, or hand hosting to another player.

Stats & handicap · Premium

A handicap index that shows its work.

nRange calculates your index from the best 10 of your last 20 score differentials, times 0.96. The rounds that count are highlighted, so you can see exactly where the number comes from.

  • 18-hole, 9-hole and combined tabs. The index is calculated from complete 18-hole rounds.
  • Charts for score trend, differentials, fairways and greens in regulation, and putting and penalties.
  • Averages for score, putts, penalties and sand shots across your rounds.
  • Already have an official index? Enter it yourself and nRange uses it for your course handicap.

Apple Watch

Distances on your wrist.

The nRange Watch app shows front, middle and back yardages for the hole you're on, in type big enough to read mid-swing-thought.

  1. Front, middle and back Yardages to the green, with the middle in the biggest type.
  2. Score with + and − Count strokes as you play. Scores sync to the round on your iPhone, even if the phone app was closed.
  3. Change holes Use the arrows at the bottom of the screen.
