Forest Park Golf Course
This hilly course situated in the midst of a densely residential neighborhood in Queens is rather short with tree lined fairways and small asymmetrical greens There are three water holes which is unusual for a city course From hole 9 there is a captivating view of Lower Manhattan The facility underwent renovations during 1997 and was lengthened by approximately 200 yards and increased to a par 70 Tee boxes were rebuilt fairways and greens re seeded and cart paths were added This course made the news during President Clinton s spring 1997 visit to New York to celebrate the anniversary of Jackie Robinson s breaking the baseball color barrier A golfer was caught chipping balls at the presidential motorcade as it passed by the course The consensus among those familiar with the perp s game said it was not a legitimate threat John Van Kleek 1934 and Lindsay Ervin 1986 have done redesigns on this course
