The Quechee Club
                The Quechee Club s two championship golf courses played host The New England Open throughout the 1990 s  According to club members  these courses represent some of architect Geoffrey Cornish s best design efforts  Lakeland  with its extensive bunkering and exceptional use of the Ottaquechee River and Lake Pinneo  will test each golfer s ability to judge risk on every hole  This course winds through the valley bottom  offering beautiful views and superior shot values  Reminiscent of a links course in layout  hazards  multiple lines of attack  and wind conditions  Lakeland offers the serious golfer great value  Highland  an upland  mountain style course with amazing views  demands shot precision  Heavily treed  with few flat fairway lies and greens that are difficult to read  success on Highland depends on each golfer s ability to visualize and execute shots that cannot be duplicated on the driving range  Many of the holes represent the architect s homage to Alistar MacKenzie  and well traveled students of golf architecture will appreciate this masterwork  Both courses are enrolled in the New York Audubon Society s Cooperative Sanctuary Program  Consequently  there is a wide variety of wildlife living on and around these two courses  For additional information regarding the club contact the pro shop at  802  295 6245 or log on to the club s website at www quecheeclub com
