Olympia Fields Country Club
Originally built in 1915 this course features the largest clubhouse in the world including a striking 80 foot clock tower The club was reduced from four courses to two during World War II The North Course originally designed by Willie Park Jr was redesigned and lengthened in the 1990s in preparation for the 1997 Senior Open It was redesigned again to host the 2003 U S Open won by Jim Furyk It had previously hosted the 1928 U S Open the 1925 and 1961 PGA Championships five Western Opens and various other tournaments The South Course is somewhat shorter but tighter than the North Course It has a number of hills and more water than the North Course Like its neighbor the greens are difficult and sometimes elevated Although not as highly acclaimed as the North Course it is generally regarded as one of the top 20 courses in Illinois
