The Course At Wente Vineyards
This course takes advantage of its beautiful surroundings and the designer went great lengths to leave the environment undisturbed The landscape includes oak sycamore and cottonwood groves native grasslands and Wente vineyards which come into play on one third of the holes The tee box on the opening hole sits 100 feet above the landing area and offers a tremendous view of the Livermore Valley and the cliffs of the Casa Blanca The design incorporates some short par 4 s that dare you to pull out the driver A good example of this is on hole 10 which measures 302 yards After climbing 250 feet from the ninth green to the tenth tee you will be rewarded with a splendid view of Mt Diablo and miles of rolling hills Players who choose to try and drive the green must avoid a ravine that creeps up within ten feet of the front right part of the green Another short par 4 is hole 4 which measures 388 yards and features a narrow landing area guarded by a steep hill on the right The tiny green faces uphill and is protected by deep native grasses A creek comes into play on the final three holes bisecting 16 running down the left side of 17 and splitting the double fairway on 18 The only house on this course belongs to Wendy Wente member of the founding family
